Comments: Type locality: Chiayi County: Tungshih FishMarket, AMNH 238753 (holotype of Nuchequula mannusella, 8.55 cm SL). Pesently known only from the coastal waters of Hsinchu, Pingtung, Kaoshiung, and from market collections at Tungshih (Ref. 75067).

خارهاي باله پشتي (کل): 8; شعاع نرم باله پشتي (کل): 16; خارهاي باله مخرجي 3; شعاع نرم باله مخرجي: 14; مهره ها: 23. This species in distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: a conspicuously deep lower jaw with a strongly concave profile, sharply pointed ventrally (vs. slightly concave or straight lower jaw profile); black dorsal-fin marking is restricted to the anterior edge of the fin, with some scattered melanophores in the dorsal-fin membrane (vs. a large blotch over a larger area on the dorsal fin or an no markings) (Ref. 75067).
