Comments: Known from the upper Ituri and its tributaries (Ref. 86918, 87849) and the Lindi and tributaries in the Ituri forest (Ref. 87849). Reports from other parts of the middle Congo River drainage, including the area around Pool Malebo (=Stanley Pool) and the Ubangi system (Ref. 47461) probably are misidentifications (see Ref. 87849). Reports from "vicinity of Kisangani, Equateur, north of N'jili, northern Congo" (Ref. 31267) and from eastern Congo (Ref. 3788) need verification. Also Ref. 27139.

It occurs mainly in the weedy and shallow parts of brooks, small streams, pools and swamps (Ref. 3788); these brooks are located in forested savannah (Ref. 3788). It is not a seasonal killifish and difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
