Distribution:  South America: Magdalena, Atrato, SinĂº, and San Juan River basins in Colombia.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  In swamps and lakes; can be very abundant; not esteemed as food fish (Ref. 40602). Both parents defend eggs and larvae (Ref. 40602).
