Distribution:  Africa: Congo River basin in Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola (Ref. 83752). Reports from the Chad basin (Ref. 3047, 83360) or Benue (Pappenheim 1907) are unconfirmed and questionable (Ref. 3203, 83752), possibly referring to C. tamandua.
