Description: moderately deep-bodied; snout pointed snout; frontal profile slightly concave to remarkably concave in adults and in large males, though males will sometimes develop a small hump on head; caudal fin slightly rounded to subtruncate; males grow larger than females (Ref. 52307).
Coloration: body pale brown in both sexes; some body scales can have a silvery center; reddish and bluish maculae may be present in dorsal and caudal fins, more colorful and more numerous in males; males with some pale yellow egg spots in anal fin and, sometimes, a black outer margin in dorsal fin (Ref. 52307). |
