Definition of Term

determinate fecundity
(English) Fecundity is determinate when the potential annual fecundity becomes fixed prior to the onset of spawning. In fishes with determinate fecundity, total fecundity decreases with each spawning because the standing stock of advanced yolked oocytes is not replaced during the spawning season. (See also: potential annual fecundity, total fecundity, annual fecundity)
