Comments: Known from Quwayq River watershed and Gulf watersheds (Firat Nehri, Dicle Nehri); Euphrates and Tigris river basins (Ref. 106151). Considered a keystone species. Threatened due to habitat loss, eutrophication/pollution, construction of weirs/dams in rivers and water abstraction (Ref. 58342). Status of threat: Vulnerable in Turkey. Vulnerable in Euphrates-Tigris system, extinct in Quwayq system (Ref. 58342). "nEurTurk."
