Known from Borneo (Ref. 7050) and Sumatra (Ref. 13275). Found in the Kapuas Lakes area in Kalimantan Barat, Borneo; newly recorded from Danau Sentarum National Park in the Kapuas basin, Kalimantan Barat, although very common in the mud or leaf litter on the bottom of most forest streams; during the dry season when the lakes dry out, this fish survives in small water bodies (kerinan) until the lakes are flooded again (Ref. 56749).
