Comments: | Its introduction coupled with habitat degradation have been implicated in the severely restricted distribution and displacement of the endemic Paratilapia polleni (Ref. 38879). Reintroduced for fisheries in 1978 (Ref. 74657). A carnivorous and very prolific species. During the reproduction it is extremely voracious and eats any kind of fish (Ref. 74657). Ref: FAO, 1997 |
