Diagnosis

This species of the Chaunax abei-group is distinguished with the following characters: unique unpigmented peritoneum; dorsal surface when freshly dead with irregular green spots, turning into dark brown when preserved; head length 39.5-40.8% SL; gill rakers on second gill arch 10; pectoral fin rays 12-13; neuromasts on lateral-line proper 29-38 and on pectoral series 11-14 (Ref. 117885).
