Short description Morphology | Morphometrics

Dorsal spines (total): 14 - 15; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-8; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 7 - 9; Vertebrae: 24. Diagnosed from all other species of the genus by having the following combination of characters: dorsal-fin rays 7-8; narrow ectopterygoid; head depth 80.0-88.7 % mm HL; snout length 26.7-32.2 % mm HL; scales on longitudinal series 23-25; no spot on dorsal-fin; cycloid scales on the head sides; presence of a caudal-fin base spot; total vertebrae 24; scales on the upper the lateral line 12-14; scales on the lower lateral line 6-8; and absence of a dark dot at the edge of each scale on the midlateral portion of the flank (Ref. 80972).
