Remarks | This is one of two species called 'fish doctor' in Labrador. The other is a large aegid isopod which is said by some to heal wounds in codfish (it feeds from open wounds of fishes). Possibly, the fish doctor is a cleaner of parasites of fishes or a healer of external wounds since it has been reported that when it was in a fish trap it stuck to the body of other fishes like a leech. |
