Comments: Type localities, Long Bay, Sydney, NSW, AM I.9020 (lectotype of Festucales (Campichthys) runa); Rottnest I., WA, WAM P.1150 (holotype of .Lissocampus affinis) (Ref. 75154). Known from Minniei Waters, New South Wales (29°50'S) to Rottnest Island, Western Australia (31°59'S) (Ref. 75154). Also Ref. 5316.

Found in shallow coastal areas with algae or Zostera sp. Some specimens have been recorded from tide pools. Ovoviviparous (Ref. 205). The male carries the eggs in a brood pouch which is found under the tail (Ref. 205). Males may brood at 6.9 cm SL.
