Comments: Type localities: Sydney, New South Wales, NHMW 20592 (holotype of Gobius bifrenatus); Melbourne market, Victoria (holotype of Gobius bassensis); Melbourne, MNHP 4559 (halfskin holotype of Gobius caudatus), MNHP A.1109 (holotype of Gobius infaustus); Adelaide, South Australia, MNHP A.1089 (holotype of Gobius filamentosus); Hobsons Bay, Victoria, MNHP A.1822 (holotype of Gobius castelnaui). Known from Moreton Bay, Queensland (27°36'S) to Perth, Western Australia (32°S) (Ref. 75154). Also Ref. 9002.
