Comments: Type locality, East Alligator River, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, CSIRO H 5262-01 (holotype of Glyphis garricki, 67 cm TL, female). Known from Western Australia, recorded from King Sound (17°20′ S, 123°34′E) and Doctors Creek (17°13′ S, 123°40′ E) near Derby in salinities 32 and 36.6. In Northern Territory, recorded from the Adelaide and West, East and South Alligator Rivers (Larson, 2000) in salinities of 6 to 26 (Ref. 76952).

Etymology: Glyphis: Tautonymous with Carcharias glyphis Müller & Henle 1839. (See ETYFish); garricki: In honor of New Zealand ichthyologist John Andrew Frank (Jack) Garrick (1928-2018), for his revisions of the requiem shark family, and “who discovered this species in the form of two newborn males from Papua New Guinea and supplied radiographs, morphometrics, drawings and other details of these specimens (since lost) to the senior author”.
