Comments: Type locality, Goiás: Município de Minaçu/Cavalcante, Rio Tocantins, at future site of Usina Hidroeléctrica Serra da Mesa, MNRJ 31279 (holotype of Sternarchorhynchus axelrodi, 44.4 cm TL, male). Collected from the Amazon Basin, Rio Tocantins (upper and lower portions of that river system) Ref. 84053).
