Vertebre: 26. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: lateral line scales 12-15; scale rows below lateral line 1 = 10-11, modally 10; scale rows below lateral line 3 = 6-7; total gill rakers 16-20; scales between lateral line 4 and abdominal scutes are small, its posterior tip not reaching second postpelvic scute; no teeth on vomer; mouth large, reaching a vertical through posterior margin of eye (Ref. 127470).
