Reported from northern (Kuei-ho harbor, Wan-li (Ref. 43539), and occasionally found in Shihman and Yehliu (Ref. 43538)), southern, and western Taiwan (including Tung-hsiao, Erh-jen-shi, Yun-gan (Ref. 43515) and Hsiao-liu-chiu) and from the Penghu (Ref. 55073), Lanyu, and Green islands (Ref. 48445, 48451). Found among algae patches of coral or rocky reefs (Ref. 9710). Also found in weedy bottoms (Ref. 30573). Cryptic and with excellent camouflage, making it difficult to detect (Ref. 90102). Males territorial (Ref. 9710). Edible but not tasty (Ref. 559). Female length is from Ref. 9137.
