Comments: Occurs in the tributaries of Gandaki, Koshi and Karnali (Ref. 12045), preferring pool and riffle areas of streams (Ref. 57735). Recorded from Bagmati zone at minimum altitude of 1,350 m. Fresh fish fetched 80-90 Rs/kg in Kathmandu in March 1992. Used as ornamental fish by Buddhists (Ref. 12045). Also Ref. 6351, 40948, 41236.

पृष्ठीय रीढ़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 1; पृष्ठीय सौफट रेज़ (सम्पूर्ण) : 6; ऐनल सौफट रेज़: 13. A white mid-dorsal stripe extending from occiput to base of caudal fin, a narrow whitish axial line on sides from shoulder to base of caudal peduncle (Ref. 4792).

Inhabits pool and riffle areas of streams (Ref. 12045). Found in rapid-running mountain streams (Ref. 12975). Occurs in the basin-wide tributary of the lower Mekong (Ref. 36667).
