Bunaka pinguis: Dumaguete River, Negros Oriental, 13.6 cm male. Also collected from Pulangui R., near Reina Regente, Cotabato; Abra R., near Bengued, Abra; Lapid Lapid R., Tawi Tawi in 1924; Kabatohan R., near Iba, Zambales; Kabulig R., Nueva Vizcaya near Casiguran; San Jose, Antique; Pasig R. (1925-6) (Ref. 439).

Found in freshwater, estuaries, inshore and mangrove (Ref. 86252). Adults occur on soft mud bottoms of rainforest creeks to elevations of at least 150 m. (Ref. 2847, 44894). They favor undercut banks for retreat. Probably has a pelagic marine larval stage (Ref. 44894).
