Remarks Usually found in shallow, fast-flowing streams of the central South Island high-country. It commonly reaches 70-80 mm in total length, with a maximum recorded length of 112 mm (Stokell, 1949). Belong to a group of small, slender galaxiids which have a wholly freshwater life cycle.
