Remarks Lives over sandy bottoms, regularly entering freshwaters during breeding season (Ref. 3479). Occurs in both estuarine and offshore waters but has been recorded as regularly entering freshwater for breeding purposes (Ref. ). Feeds mainly on crustaceans (especially shrimps), small fishes and benthic organisms.
