Family:  Bothidae (Lefteye flounders)
Max. size:  20 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 50 - 220 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: Natal (South Africa), Zanzibar (Tanzania), Mombasa (Kenya) and northeastern Indian Ocean, as well as Mozambique. Known also from the south coast of Java (Ref. 9824).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 101-108; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 78-83. Dark blotches on dorsal and anal fins; last 3 pelvic rays on eyed side and 1st 3 dorsal rays darkened (Ref. 4417).
Biology:  Feeds on bottom-living animals (Ref. 9824).
