Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 16-17; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-11; Anal soft rays: 7-8; Vertebrae: 27-29. Possesses a prominent dark blotch posterodorsally on opercle and two rows of irregular blackish blotches along side. Differs from B. assamensis by longer jaw, upper jaw 12-13.6 SL); lower jaw 16.3-18.5%SL, having fewer scales in lateral row, more gill rakers, and fewer vertebrae (Ref. 46238).
