Max. size:  2.34 cm SL (male/unsexed); 2.48 cm SL (female)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 18 - 21 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Rodrigues.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-10; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. This species is distinguished by the following characters: median predorsal scales absent; two modified scales with enlarged ctenii ventrally and dorsally at the caudal-fin base, extending over fin rays; head with anterior and posterior oculoscapular, and preopercular canals, with pores ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?1, ?2, and ?, ?, ?, respectively.
