Family:  Pomacentridae (Damselfishes), subfamily: Chrominae
Max. size:  17 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 2 - 15 m, non-migratory
Distribution:  Western Pacific: southern Japan, Ryukyu Islands, Taiwan, and China.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-14; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 10-12. A prominent white spot just behind the posterior base of the soft dorsal fin.
Biology:  Adults inhabit inshore and offshore coral or rocky reefs (Ref. 7247). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205). Diurnal species (Ref. 52881).
