Max. size:  85 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 10 - 100 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Mozambique and Madagascar to South Africa.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 12-12; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-10; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 8-8
Biology:  Inhabits coastal waters over rocky substrate. Feeds on mollusks, crustaceans, worms, and small fishes (Ref. 5213). Sold fresh in markets.
