Family:  Colocongridae (Short-tail eels)
Max. size:  37.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 650 - 925 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Gulf of Mexico and off Suriname.
Diagnosis:  Snout short and rounded; eye large; mouth corner situated just below posterior margin of pupil; number or preanal lateral line pores 70-72 (Ref. 13608).
Biology: 
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 15 November 2019 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
