Family:  Colocongridae (Short-tail eels)
Max. size:  51 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 412 - 970 m
Distribution:  Indo-Pacific: southern Mozambique and Natal, South Africa, but probably much more widespread, also South China Sea and east Australia.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 142-157. Dark blackish brown.
Biology:  Inhabits deep waters (Ref. 5213).
