Family:  Fundulidae (Topminnows and killifishes)
Max. size:  13.511 cm SL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 2 years
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Peninsular Florida, USA from St. Johns (Atlantic) and New (Gulf) River drainages south to just below Lake Okeechobee.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit open areas of lakes and quiet stream pools. Young are usually found in schools near vegetation. 16 cm max TL (Ref. 5723). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106). Not a seasonal killifish. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
