Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater; depth range - 28 m
Distribution:  Africa: Lake Victoria.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs over a mud bottom in exposed water (known from only one locality) (Ref. 4983). The relatively long and much coiled intestine of H. plutonius suggests that a certain amount of plant material may be part of the normal diet (Ref. 558).
