Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 95 - 600 m
Distribution:  Pacific Ocean: Kyushu-Palau Ridge, off south coast of Oahu Island, and Sala y Gomez Ridge.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 62-69; Anal soft rays: 55-61; Vertebrae: 52-54. Broad mouth. Head length 26-29.2%SL; body depth at first anal ray 14.2-19.3%SL.
Biology:  Benthic in or near crevices of rocky habitats (Ref. 58302).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 04 February 2009 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
