| Biology: | Inhabits streams in lowland and upland areas (Ref. 56749) and peats (Ref. 57235). Found in shaded forest streams with acidic water and dense growth of submerged vegetation and leaf litter beds (Ref. 85309). Tends to hide among vegetation (Ref. 85309). Often occurs in clear water over rocky bottom in flowing streams. Feeds on bottom-dwelling insect larvae, worms (Ref. 12693) and crustaceans (Ref. 56749). | |||
