| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 6-6; Anal soft rays: 4-4. Escal morphology: anterior appendage with a few distal branches; medial appendage represented by a tuft of short filaments; posterior appendage nonfilamentous. Characterized further by having unusually long and narrow subopercle, upper end tapering to a point without indentation on posterodorsal margin; length of ventral fork of opercle 27.3% SL; ratio of lengths of dorsal and ventral forks of opercle 0.56; absence of epibranchial teeth; presence of teeth on pharyngobranchial II; upper jaw teeth 30, lower jaw teeth 39; teeth on vomer 6; dorsal fin rays 6; anal fin rays 4; pectoral fin rays 17; head length 46.7% SL; head depth 46.7% SL; premaxilla length 35.0% SL; length of lower jaw 50.0% SL; length of illicium 26.7% SL (Ref. 86949). | |||
