Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: endemic to the Malagarasi River, known from the area around Uvinza (Ref. 28906, 97348) from the Igamba Falls (Ref. 97348) in Tanzania.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 19-21; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-11; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 9-10; Vertebrae: 31-32
Biology:  Rheophilic species, confined to swift running waters; feeds on algae particularly belonging to the Bacillariophyceae and Chlorophyceae and some Cyanophyceae; mouthbrooder (Ref. 28906).
