Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 10-12
Biology:  Inhabits large rivers as well as small tributaries. Prefers well-vegetated stream margins with soft mud bottom. Feeds on insects, crustaceans and fishes (Ref. 5259, 44894). Aquarium conditions: pH=7.2, H=10, 26°C water temperature, carnivore, egg layer, needs plant and rock cover, not easy for beginning aquarists (Ref. 6398).
