Family:  Xenocyprididae (East Asian minnows)
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Mekong basin (Ref. 27732) and Chao Phraya (Ref. 26336)
Diagnosis:  Has only 19-24 gill rakers on the first gill arch; lateral line usually discontinuous (Ref. 27732). Reported to have lateral line usually continuous (Ref. 12693).
Biology:  Found in large rivers in slow flowing to standing water (Ref. 27732) and at shallow and medium depths (Ref. 12693). Feeds on zooplankton and occasionally insect . Probably used to make prahoc (Ref. 12693).
