Family:  Nototheniidae (Cod icefishes), subfamily: Nototheniinae
Max. size:  12.97 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; marine
Distribution:  Southwest Atlantic: Argentine Patagonia, Straits of Magellan and Tierra del Fuego.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 5-5; Dorsal soft rays (total): 36-36; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 33-33. Lateral line scales 49 (upper), 11 (lower). Body brown dorsally and pale brown ventrally with dark brown indistinct crossbars; black blotch on posterior part of first dorsal fin membrane; margins of second dorsal, anal and caudal fins dusky; dusky band on caudal fin base (Ref. 27363).
Biology:  Maximum length based on one specimen (Ref. 27363).
