Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Guyana.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 4-4. This species is distinguished from all other congeners, except P. braueri, by having an distal orange bands in the dorsal and caudal fins and the thin, black lines that outline the plates and bones of the head (Ref. 54521). Description: Dorsal-fin spine lock functional (Ref. 54521).
Biology:  Inhabits areas with large number of lateritic rocks (Ref. 54521).
