| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 17-18; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 26-26. Upper half of body with 6 oblique dark bars, the 2 posterior bars narrow. Oblique rows of scales on cheek 7; scales dorsally on head extending forward to midinterorbital space; no scales on maxilla nor ventrally on head. Posterior , margin of preopercle serrate, the ventral margin with 2 antrorse spines; subopercle and interopercle not serrate. Caudal fin slightly emarginate with prolonged upper lobe (Ref. 26833). | |||
