Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 166 - 202 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: Western Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: segmented dorsal rays 16 with third dorsal spine longest; pectoral rays 14, with all but uppermost branched in adults; lateral line complete, 27-30 tubed scales; no scales on maxilla, mandibles or lower part of snout; lower part of preopercle with two enlarged antrorse serrations; head length 41.9-44.7 % SL; snout length 7.1-9.2 % SL (Ref. 123579).
