Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 260 - 360 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: Australia and New Caledonia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 10-10; Dorsal soft rays (total): 15-16; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 7-7; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: D X,15-16; pectoral rays 15; lateral line complete with 32-34 tubed scales; no antrorse serrations on lower edge of preopercle; scales with basal cteni; melanophores on caudal peduncle form a bar that extends to ventral margin of peduncle (Ref. 123579).
