Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Cyprininae
Max. size:  13.7 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: known only from the Lake Tawar in northwestern Sumatra, Indonesia.
Diagnosis:  Large scales; long barbels; some individuals develop a gibbosity or humeral hump, a character seldom observed in other Poropuntius. A faint longitudinal stripe above lateral line; caudal fin without marginal stripes (Ref. 35912).
