Family:  Leuciscidae (Minnows), subfamily: Pogonichthyinae
Max. size:  6 cm TL (male/unsexed); max. reported age: 2 years
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  North America: Ouachita and Red River drainage lowlands of southern Arkansas, Louisiana and northeastern Texas, USA; and Wolf Lake, southwest Illinois.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults inhabit backwaters, oxbows and sluggish pools of creeks and small rivers, usually near vegetation over mud or sand (Ref. 5723, 86798). Migratory behaviour is undetermined (Ref. 126106).
