Distribution:  Western Pacific: Philippines.
Diagnosis:  Vertebrae: 27-27. This species possess the following distinguishing characters: no defined cleithral spine (width 5% SL), rudiment of the spine medial to the opercular spine; absence of a black blotch on the first dorsal fin; scalloped-edged scales on trunk; naked prepectoral, breast and interpelvic area; scaled belly; inner surface of pectoral fin with a black blotch, dusk membranes rather than black, 13 connected rays; pectoral length 42-46% SL, longest free ray 38-39% SL; 1-2 epibranchial gill rakers, 8 ceratobranchial gill rakers, short (3% SL); 27 vertebrae (Ref. 54796).
