Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Smiliogastrinae
Max. size:  9.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: India.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  This species was collected from a water stream which has a width of 3.5 m and bank height of 1 m from the general water level. It is blanketed by mud dominant sediments with sand occurring only at discrete patches and where riparian vegetation is moderate. Associated species include Wallago attu, Gonoproktopterus kurali, Cirrhina mrigala, Gibelion catla, Labeo rohita, L. dussumieri, Puntius parrah, P. viridis, Pethia ticto, Dawkinsia filamentosa, Haludaria fasciata, Amblypharyngodon microlepis, Rasbora dandia, Osteobrama bakeri, Horabagrus brachysoma and others (Ref. 132415).
