Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Orinoco River basin, north and eastern Guiana Shield rivers; tributaries of the lower Amazon River.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Rare (Ref. 12225). Possesses powerful dentition that can cause serious bites.
