Distribution:  Asia: China.
Diagnosis:  It has a longitudinal scale series 32 to 35; no pored scales; transverse scale series 11 (10-12); branched dorsal-fin rays 8 (rarely 7); branched anal-fin rays 7-8; vertebrae 33-34 (rarely 35); no light spots on dorsal-fin rays and males have a nuptial colouration of a blue snout, iris, belly and yellow fins.
