| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal soft rays: 5-5. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: plates in most of the skin of the ventral surface of the pectoral girdle absent; plates in the abdominal region absent; snout having an anterior area of exposed skin without odontodes extended laterally to the most anterior pore of the infraorbital ramus of the sensory canal; upper unbranched caudal-fin ray extending beyond the margin of the fin as a short filament; leading-edge pectoral-fin ray reaching pelvic-fin origin; spotted color pattern in the dorsal, pectoral, and pelvic-fin rays (Ref. 137778). | |||
