Family:  Scorpaenidae (Scorpionfishes or rockfishes), subfamily: Scorpaeninae
Max. size:  50 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine; depth range 75 - 800 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Mediterranean Sea and Morocco to off northern Namibia (Ref. 27121).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Sedentary species which occurs in rocky areas (Ref. 4510). Feeds on fishes, shrimps and other benthic invertebrates (Ref. 5377).

Threat to humans:  harmless
